An Old Post Revisited – The Macbeth Story

The Macbeth Story: For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his soul Matthew 16 verse 26 Most people know the story of Macbeth written by William Shakespeare. They have either read the book at school like I did when I was younger or they have seen the movie like I did recently. Some people say that Macbeth is one of Shakespeare’s tragedies. I say that Macbeth had two choices and he made the wrong one. To me, the witches symbolise words that can be sown into either good or bad soil and in the case of Macbeth according to Shakespeare they were sown into bad soil. So here is a basic summary of the story: Duncan is the reigning king of Scotland. There is a battle, Macbeth, and his fellow officer Banquo are victorious despite there being many casualties on all sides. They meet some witches on the moor who tell Macbeth that he is going to be the Thane of Cawdor and then the King of Scotland. They also tell Banquo that although he would never be king he would beget a line of Scottish kings, meaning that his descendants would be kings. Not long after King Duncan has the current Thane of Cawdor killed because of treason and sends some men to give the title of Thane of Cawdor to Macbeth on the battlefield. This obviously sets Macbeth on the path of thinking that if the first thing predicted by the witches has come true, maybe the next would soon follow. (Point to note here, Macbeth didn’t betray anyone to...

GLL Publishing – From Arizona with Love

Who have you appreciated recently? I am currently in Arizona and saw something on the TV that really touched me. A group of teachers in High School (Secondary School in the UK), took time out to tell the student who had really positively affected them how much they appreciated them. It was so good to see how happy the teachers were and how emotional and happy the students were by being positively affirmed. It also made me think – how often do I tell people how much I appreciate them? What we say can either lift people up or bring them down A scripture in the Bible says ‘Life and death are in the power of the tongue’. This means that you can say positive things and bring happiness to people or say negative things and bring sadness to people. I and all at GLL Publishing choose to say positive things and bring happiness to people and we are truly overwhelmed by all the support people have given us by sharing our positive inspirational photos and liking us. We have recently started our ‘What if..’ campaign where we hope to get people thinking about others and how to treat people positively. To everyone who has shared our photos like the ones below, we want to say a humongous ‘Thank you’. We at GLL Publishing appreciate you and we send you our love and best wishes from Arizona.                                   Ebooks from GLL Publishing available at Amazon, Smashwords etc – Books also available via www.gllpublishing.com...

Chapter 9 of U Murder U (Suicide)

CHAPTER 9   Unable to sleep, very drunk and very angry because Elle hadn’t called her back, Jessica rifled through some papers she had taken out of the secret desk compartment. She kept the compartment locked and the key to unlock it hidden in a pendant on a chain around her neck. She glanced at the papers as she desperately looked for one in particular, she read words like, ‘Death is a friend of mine’ and ‘We’re going to leave this world on our terms when the time is right for us’, they made her smile as did the gothic-like art that surrounded the words. These words usually gave her comfort in her sobriety pending the time she could get hold of a drink. She found the paper she sought, relief flooded through her, igniting her nerves and sending her pulse racing; she clasped it to her chest for a few moments. She turned her iPod on, selected a song then clambered onto her bed. She closed her eyes momentarily absorbing into her soul what can only be described as morbid, death-like music. Chanting embraced and caressed the music as it spewed out from the speakers. Each syllable seemed to conjure up spirits, evil and agile spirits that pandered to her mental state of mind – they danced to the music, decadence rife. Her heart beat faster as the chanting picked up pace and the music became almost maniacal-like. Jessica swayed this way and that, her eyes rolled backwards in her head. She felt herself floating higher and higher. The banging on her bedroom door served as...

Chapter 8 of U Murder U (Suicide)

CHAPTER 8   Elle and Maddy sat at the piano playing one of their mother’s compositions that had once been used in a TV commercial. Elle led while Maddy stayed two or three notes behind. They smiled at each other and shoved each other lovingly as they played. Maddy tried to catch up but Elle played faster moving ahead of her. Maddy giggled as Elle missed a note and tried again to play faster but again Elle picked up speed and stayed a few notes ahead. They played to the end then Elle gave a count to three and they started the song together, this time Elle playing upper keys and Maddy playing the lower keys. Clarissa listened to her daughters as they played, she smiled. Her babies were growing up. Each morning when she woke up and every night before she went to bed she was thankful and she prayed for her girls. She prayed that they would grow up to be better than her and achieve more than her and marry the right men (never experience separation or divorce) and be so happy. Be so happy that each day they woke up and each night before they went to bed, they would be thankful and pray for their own children to be better than them and achieve more than them and marry the right people and be so happy….. Clarissa listened as Elle and Maddy played another song then the music stopped. “Okay enough warm-up you need to practice your recital now Maddy,” Elle said as she moved further along the piano stool and...

Your support has been valuable – Thank you and enjoy Chapter 7 of U Murder U (Suicide) below Gladys x     CHAPTER 7  Dr Peter Lewis walked into the conference room and saw a man holding his wife’s arm and talking to her, he saw the look of fear on his wife’s face which she was trying desperately to conceal. With slight trepidation he walked up to them and turned his wife round to face him, “Anna, what is it?” “Peter, oh my God, Peter, I just saw a vision of a little girl, she was standing over there and there was this bright light around her,” she whispered then collapsed against him. He held her close, he could feel her shaking.   A short time later “Ladies and gentlemen, my wife is not feeling well and will not be able to continue with this conference. She is aware that a number of you have come a long way to be here today and has asked me to continue on her behalf and answer whatever questions you might still have. My name is Dr Peter Lewis and I co-founded TTS with Anna some years ago.” Completely ill at ease, Dr Peter Lewis rubbed his forehead nervously as he tried to make the transition from university lecturer mode to a conference speaker mode. “Suicidium is a latin word from which sui caedare is taken from, which means to kill oneself or the act of intentionally causing one’s own death. World organisations estimate that each year approximately one million people die from suicide. These organisations have said that in...
